SUMMARY

On March 30, 2023, at the Ambassador’s Residence in Washington, DC, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin was awarded with the Legion of Honor in recognition of her role as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs under the Obama administration (2014-2017).

During this period, she played a particularly important role in strengthening bilateral security cooperation with France, notably against terrorist groups in the wake of a series of attacks by ISIS.

Philippe Errera, Director General for Political Affairs at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, bestowed France’s highest decoration upon the Congresswoman in presence of Ambassador Bili as well as her friends, staff and fellow members of Congress.
