Algeria – Telephone conversation between Catherine Colonna and her Algerian counterpart (Apr. 3, 2023)

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna spoke by phone today with her new Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad.

She congratulated her Algerian counterpart on his appointment and offered him her best wishes for success.

The conversation between the two ministers follows on from the Algerian President’s visit to France in August 2022 and the High-Level Intergovernmental Committee meeting held in Algiers in October 2022, whose delegation was headed by the Prime Minister. They welcomed the strong momentum created by the Algiers Declaration for a Renewed Partnership between France and Algeria on a par with the two countries’ ambitions.

Ahead of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s visit to France in May, the two ministers reviewed all the areas in which we engage in bilateral cooperation. They agreed to hold a regular dialogue with the aim of deepening relations between France and Algeria.


Burkina Faso – Expulsion of journalists (Apr. 2, 2023)

France deeply regrets the expulsion of Le Monde and Libération correspondents from Burkina Faso a few days after the decision to suspend the broadcast of France 24 programs.

France reaffirms its staunch and unwavering commitment to the freedom of the press and the protection of journalists around the world.
