The president of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, said that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) ordered the deployment of a “standby force” to restore constitutional order in Niger. That deployment should take place “as soon as possible.”
The French Foreign Minister indicated that France reiterates its full support for all the resolutions adopted at the Extraordinary Summit of ECOWAS leaders on August 10.
Is France planning to offer assistance to this possible intervention (in terms of logistical or intelligence support, for example)?
