Avec nos blessés

SUMMARY

In 2017, French Army General Jean-Pierre Bosser launched the first national day dedicated to the French Army's wounded. Named "Avec nos blessés" (With our wounded) in 2022, it is usually held on/around June 24th, in reference to the Battle of Solferino (June 24, 1859), after which Henri Dunant, future founder of the Red Cross, organized first aid for the thousands of soldiers left on the battlefield. For this 7th edition, the theme of the operation is "Reconstruction: everyone involved" and aims to raise public awareness of the importance of reconstruction for soldiers who have suffered serious injuries in battle. The campaign invites everyone to get involved by supporting initiatives to help the war-wounded in their transition to a new life. This morning, the Defense Mission brought together Embassy staff and friends for an 8km run/walk/ride around the National Mall to raise awareness as part of the “Tenir l’effort avec nos blessés” challenge.
