SUMMARY

Entrepreneurs, lawyers, judges, representatives of the port of Tampa and other personalities from the Tampa’s region were part of the mission led by the Mayor of Tampa, Ms. Jane Castor accompanied by the Tampa city Councilman, Mr. Guido Maniscalco, and Hillsborough County Commissioner Harry Cohen. This visit to Le Havre from October 2nd to 5, 2023 followed Mayor Edouard Philippe’s mission last October that reaffirmed Tampa- Le Havre sister cities agreement. Initiated in the 1990s’, this agreement opened a strong relationship at the judicial level with great exchanges between lawyers and judges on both sides of the Atlantic. With Mayor Philippe’s visit to Tampa in 2022 and the reaffirmation of their sister cities agreement, other ways of cooperation were discussed especially in education. Thanks to the efforts of association LH Connections, a first American section has been already opened at the Elementary School of La Mailleraye. In Le Havre, this October, both Mayors talked to deepen this cooperation particularly in sports, education and culture. During the 5-day-trip to Le Havre, different sessions of the program were dedicated to law and security, particularly in maritime transportation and port safety. At the Normandy Business School (EM Normandie) specialized in logistics and supply chain management, Tampa’s entrepreneurs met with representatives of Economic Development organization for Le Havre. They exchanged about different programs involving the city and the port of Le Havre, including current and future investments related to energy reduction and ecological transition.
