Intensified fighting in eastern DRC (February 8, 2024)
France is concerned by the intensified fighting around Goma, in eastern DRC, and its serious humanitarian consequences for the civilian population. France condemns M23’s continued offensives in the strongest possible terms, as well as any and all attacks on the MONUSCO force.
The current situation makes it more necessary than ever to revive regional diplomatic processes, particularly in regard to the implementation of a new ceasefire. We support the efforts of all stakeholders who are committed to dialogue and restoring calm.
