Wednesday, April 17, 2024, marked the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the New York Bay by Giovanni Da Verrazzano. This Italian navigator who worked for France called the new land Nouvelle-Angoulême, in honor of the King he served: François Ier, count of Angoulême. This anniversary was thus a great opportunity to honor the explorer’s achievements and celebrate once again the historical connections between France and the United States!
