79th anniversary of D-Day – The Allied launched an attack on occupied regions

SUMMARY

On June 6th, 1944, Allied troops launched an attack in Northern France to turn the tide of WWII by taking back control of German occupied regions. On D-Day, the Allies moved closer to victory and to the end of the ghastly conflict. To honor the sacrifice and bravery of those involved, across the Atlantic, the US shortly after saluted this victory by flashing a V for Victory in Morse Code on the Statue of Liberty.
