SUMMARY
In December of this year, Notre Dame will reopen to the public, and last night, at the Maison Française at the Embassy of France, we got a beautiful glimpse of what is to come. The panel organized by the friends-of-notre-dame-de-paris entitled, “The Rebirth of Notre Dame,” explored the rich past of the cathedral and showcased one of Europe’s most ambitious restoration projects. From the laying of the cornerstone in 1163, to the monument’s cultural significance, to the journey taken to bring the monument back to the Paris skyline and to open its doors anew–it was a moving night. Thank you to panelist Michel Picaud, President of Friends of Notre Dame de Paris, and Ludovic Lebeau, Deputy Chief-Executive of the Public Establishment Overseeing Notre Dame’s Restoration. Thank you as well to all those who have made the rebuild possible.
