Moldova – Catherine Colonna’s visit to Chisinau for the fourth ministerial conference of the Moldova Support Platform (October 17, 2023)
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna will travel to Chisinau on October 17 for the fourth ministerial conference of the Moldova Support Platform co-chaired by France, Germany and Moldova. The conference will be opened by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean and closed by Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
The Minister will co-chair the conference with her German and Romanian counterparts, Annalena Baerbock and Bogdan Aurescu, alongside Nicu Popescu, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
This conference, which is taking place amid Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, will send a new signal of unity and support for Moldova. Following the first three conferences, which were centered around emergency aid – the last of which was held in Paris on November 21, 2022 – the Chisinau conference will focus more specifically on issues of long-term economic resilience, concentrating on infrastructure and strengthening energy security. France also co-chairs the Platform’s working group on energy.
This fourth ministerial conference will also provide an opportunity to review the reforms undertaken by Moldova since becoming an EU candidate country in June 2022 and to discuss priorities with regard to international support for Moldova’s path to eventual EU membership.
