Lebanon
Situation of French nationals (October 3, 2024)

In light of the situation in Lebanon and in the region, the safety of our nationals is our top priority. We emphasize that all travel to Lebanon is strongly discouraged.

Middle East Airlines continues to operate two daily flights between Beirut and Paris; those of our nationals who wish to leave Lebanon can do so via these flights.

As was announced on Monday during Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot’s visit to Lebanon, Middle East Airlines added two additional flights today that enabled some of our compatriots who wished to return to France – especially those in particularly vulnerable situations – to do so.

France reiterates the urgent need to end the military escalation in the region and calls on all the parties to refrain from all destabilizing actions.

Israel
United Nations (October 2, 2024)

France regrets Israel’s serious, unjustified and counterproductive decision to declare UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres persona non grata.

We reaffirm our full support for and confidence in the UN Secretary-General.

France reiterates its commitment to the UN Charter, international law, and the importance of abiding by UN Security Council decisions with regard to peacekeeping and international security. The UN plays a fundamental role in the region’s stability.
