The story
Welcome to Gérolstein, where the ruler is more interested in flirting than governing! The Grand Duchess has set her sights on Fritz, a humble soldier, and she’s not afraid to shake things up to get what she wants. What follows is a wild ride of romantic mishaps, power plays, and laugh-out-loud moments that keep everyone on their toes. This is satire at its finest, wrapped in Offenbach’s lively music that’s sure to get stuck in your head.
About Offenbach
Jacques Offenbach, known for his rollicking music, cheeky parodies, and close-to-the-bone mockery, was the bête noire of the Parisian opera establishment. For a time, his theatre was the place to see and be seen. As the original king of operetta, Offenbach was a trailblazer in creating shows that were fun, cheeky, and full of social commentary. “La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein” is one of his most successful “Offenbach bashes” and remains a sparkling example of his genius.
