Rediscovering News From France

Between 1985 and 2018, News From France – A free monthly review of French news & trends was the Embassy’s vibrant newsletter, crafted by the Press and Communication Office to bring all things French to thousands of readers. Spanning diplomacy, literature, cuisine, science, cinema, fashion, sport and much more, its pages painted a vivid portrait of France’s cultural and global contributions.

For most of its history, this eight-page newsletter was printed and mailed to loyal subscribers across the United States. In 2003, with the advent of improved digital tools, News From France became available in a .pdf format. The final three issues took the leap to an entirely online format, marking the close of its remarkable run.

Today, these archived issues invite you on a unique journey through time. Each edition is a snapshot of its era, capturing the dynamic interplay of French innovation, creativity, and heritage. Whether it’s a feature on groundbreaking scientific advances, a recipe for a classic French dish, or a spotlight on celebrated cultural events or regions of France, there’s something to inspire and please every reader.

Sit back and enjoy the trip back in time with News From France. This collection is more than a newsletter—it’s a treasure trove of memories, offering a window into decades of Franco-American connection and enduring allure of French culture.
