60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty – the first French-German-American friendship “Buddy Bear”

SUMMARY

During the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty celebration in Atlanta, many French and German friends gathered at the joint location of Alliance Française Atlanta and Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta - North America’s first Franco-German Cultural Center.

The Consuls General Anne-Laure Desjonquères and Melanie Moltmann unveiled the first trilateral French-German-American friendship "Buddy Bear". It symbolizes tolerance & understanding not only between our three countries but around the globe. We’re very thankful for this beautiful and meaningful gift from the German Consulate General in Atlanta.

The art on the "Buddy Bear" is the work of Rebecca Shenfeld and represents Atlanta’s sister cities of Nuremberg and Toulouse, as well as symbols of the Franco-German collaboration represented by the new center.
