SUMMARY

On September 11, Ambassador of France to the U.S. Laurent Bili awarded Dr. Linda Fried the insignia of Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur, the highest honor that exists in France created in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. Dr Linda Fried dedicated her outstanding scientific career to lifelong health and, with our now-longer lives, researched the best ways to plan for these additional years. She has been dedicated to strengthening cooperation between France and the U.S., in particular through the relationship between the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, which she currently leads, and the INSERM laboratories. Thanks to her, the ties between these scientific institutions have grown significantly, as the friendship between our two countries.
