North Korea
Missile launches (Dec. 18, 2023)
France strongly condemns North Korea’s launch of a short-range ballistic missile and an intercontinental ballistic missile on December 17 and 18 in yet another flagrant violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
France assures the Republic of Korea and Japan of its total solidarity. It urges North Korea to immediately put an end to these destabilizing actions, to comply with its international obligations without delay, and to return to the negotiating table in order to engage in a process leading to the complete, verifiable, irreversible dismantlement of its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Together with its partners, France is fully committed to ensuring the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions and calls on North Korea to except the repeated offers it has received.
