Discussion on the occasion of World Day Against the Death Penalty

SUMMARY

In today’s global context, where justice and human rights remain at the forefront of international dialogue, the issue of the death penalty continues to be a pressing concern. On the occasion of World Day Against the Death Penalty, the Embassy of France and the Federal Republic of Germany, in cooperation with the Death Penalty Information Center, hosted a discussion on the concerning number of credible claims of innocence on death row. Thank you to moderator Robin Maher, Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center, and to panelists Herman Lindsey, Executive Director of Witness to Innocence and 135th Exoneree from death row since the death penalty was reinstated in the US; Vanessa Potkin, Director of Special Litigation at the Innocence Project; and Emmjolee Mendoza Waters, Director of Death Penalty Abolition Program at the Catholic Mobilizing Network.
